Emails received from UTSOnline shows additional email address
Email received from UTSOnline shows the additional email address in the ‘From’ field called utsonline.void@uts.edu.au.
Affected users:
UTSOnline email recipients
Description:
Email received through UTSOnline shows sender email address as well as utsonline.void@uts.edu.au in the ‘From’ field. However, the actual email header contains the sender email address and not the utsonline.void@uts.edu.au address. This means, when a user replies, it goes to the sender as most of the email clients will use the email address stored in the header. Very few mail clients may use the email address showing in the From field which includes utsonline.void@uts.edu.au. In this case, users will receive an auto-reply to resend the email by copying and pasting the actual sender’s email address.
Below screen shot shows copy of the email received through UTSOnline:
Status:
Blackboard has modified the email address in the application to by-pass DMARC policy implemented by major external email providers such as Yahoo or Gmail. Without the additional email address, UTSOnline users who do not have UTS email address may not be able to email another user with an email address from the same provider using UTSOnline.
Workaround:
When replying to the email received through UTSOnline, make sure that ‘To’ field contains the correct sender email address
