Qwickly Attendance Tool
Qwickly Attendance enables faculty to take attendance that is automatically graded in the UTSOnline Grade Centre. Faculty can take attendance using an attendance list on screen or allow students to check in on their own browser, complete with a PIN and countdown timer. This page illustrates features of Qwickly Attendance Tool, you can find how to set-up Qwickly Attendance for your Subject site here.
Some salient features of Qwickly Attendance Tool are listed below:
Automatic Grading:
Attendance tool provides option to add attendance data directly to UTSOnline Grade Centre. Instructors can choose to create a dedicated column for Attendance or Absence
Multiple Sessions:
Instructors can mark attendance for multiple sessions on the same day. While marking the attendance, instructors can label each section (e.g. Lab / Tut 1 etc) as per their requirements.
Student Check – In:
Instructors can allow students to check in to class on their own devices. Checking in allows instructors to skip manually taking attendance and gives students credit for being in class. For extra security, Qwickly Attendance can automatically generate a 4 digit pin for students to enter.
Custom Statuses:
Extend the power of Qwickly Attendance by creating custom attendance statuses. Create statuses like Tardy, Bonus or Major Participant. Each status supports having some percentage of an absence or points, or both. Here are some examples of how they work:
- Present is worth 100% of the days points, and is 0% of an absence
- Absent is worth 0% of the days points and 100% of an absence
- Tardy could be worth 90% of the days points, and be considered 33% of an absent (3 tardies = 1 absence)
Attendance Record:
From Attendance Record page, instructors can easily change a student’s attendance status to correct an error or report an excused absence by clicking the cell for their record.
Absence Statistics:
The Attendance Record shows the aggregate number of absences for each student. This includes custom statuses that may give students partial absences, such as tardies.
Student Viewing:
If instructors choose to make the tool available to students within the Blackboard course, students are able to see their own record, helping them stay on track of any attendance policies. They are not able to see the record of any other student.
Private Comments:
Instructors can write private comments beside a student name in their Attendance sheet, as per their requirement.
Attendance Styles:
Qwickly Attendance offers multiple attendance styles. Instructors can see a list of all students and work down the list or have Qwickly Attendance show one student at a time as they call of names.
Export Data:
Instructors can save an attendance record to your computer that can be opened by Excel or other spreadsheet software.
