The Gradecentre
Grade Centre *
The Grade Centre in UTSOnline is an interactive tool, allowing you to record data, calculate grades and monitor student progress. You can generate reports to communicate information and you can determine which assigned grades to show to your students in My Grades, including columns displaying performance results.
In the Grade Centre, you can provide and manage your students’ grades for assignments, tests, discussion posts, journals, blogs, and wikis, and for ungraded items, such as surveys or self tests. You can also create grade columns for any activities or requirements you want to grade, such as special projects, participation, or attendance.
View the in-depth Blackboard Support guide overview page or jump to a detailed guide below for customising, entering grades, reporting and working offline with Excel friendly files.
About My Grades *
My Grades is a tool for students so they can access test scores, assignment grades and feedback when they have been released.
Manage My Grades to allow students to see letter grades, scores and feedback when and how you prefer.
Manage student grade availability *
An instructor can control when students see their marks for a specific UTSOnline assessment in the My Grades tool by hiding or showing the grade column for that assessment in the Grade Centre.
Step 1:
Navigate to the site Control Panel, expand the Grade Centre menu, and select the Full Grade Centre option (see image below). This will open the Grade Centre page.
Step 2:
In the Grade Centre page, locate the grade column you would like to hide/show from students. Click on the options icon for that grade column (see image below). This will open the options menu for that grade column.
Step 3:
From the grade column menu, select Hide from Students (on/off) (see image below).
If the grade column is available to students, activating the Hide from Students (on/off) setting will hide the grades under this grade column from the My Grades tool. If the grade column is hidden from students, activating the Hide from Students (on/off) setting will make the grades under this grade column available in the My Grades tool.
Note: A grade column that is hidden from students will have the Column Not Visible to Users icon in the column header (see image below):
Deleting a Grade column *
When an assessment item is created in a UTSOnline subject site, a Grade column is automatically added to the Full Grade Centre for that assessment item. These automatically created Grade columns can only be deleted by deleting the associated assessment item. If however a Grade column is created manually i.e. within the Full Grade Centre, that Grade column can be manually deleted.
For instructions on manually deleting a Grade column in the Full Grade Centre, refer to the slide below.
