How to archive a UTSOnline subject
NOTE: UTSOnline subject sites are no longer recycled so archiving your UTSOnline subject site may not be necessary if you would like to retain access to content from a previous session. For more information on this change, please refer to the Automated UTSOnline Subject Creation and Enrolment help page.
To archive a copy of your UTSOnline subject look under your subject’s Control Panel for Packages and Utilities and then Export/Archive Subject
Archive and Export Options
From within the Export/Archive area you have two options for backing up your UTSOnline subject.
Export Package
Exporting a subject package will include the subjects Content, Settings and Tools, but does not include user records and interactions.
The Export Package option is best for archiving your subject’s content. If you are wanting to save user records you will be best choosing Archive Subject.

Within the Export Package screen you are given the option to choose which subject materials you want to back up/archive.
After your UTSOnline subject has been exported you will be emailed at your UTS staff email account to inform you that the export file (.zip) is ready to download.
You can find your exported subject under your subject’s Control Panel for Packages and Utilities and then Export/Archive Subject.
Archive Subject
The Archive Subject option will create a ‘snapshot’ archive of your UTSOnline subject – including user interactions.
After your UTSOnline subject has been archived you will be emailed at your UTS staff email account to inform you that the archive file (.zip) is ready to download.
You can find your archived subject under your subject’s Control Panel for Packages and Utilities and then Export/Archive Subject.
Restoring your Archived Subject or Exported Package
If you have chosen to create an Export Package you will be able to open the .zip archive file and access the various content files you chose to export (remember that the Exported Package will not contain the interactions between the users).
If you have chosen to create an Archived Subject you will need to contact the IT Service Desk to request the archive to be restored within UTSOnline.
