If you’d like to record some introductory videos or screencasts from your computer then Echo360 Personal Capture (PCAP) might be the right tool for you. Echo360 PCAP allows you to make a recording of your computer’s screen or from its webcam.
Echo360 is the recommended and supported application for screen-recording on the Windows desktop. QuickTime is the recommended alternative application on recent Apple computers. Quicktime comes pre-installed.
Important: Use of Echo360 PCAP does not give you access to the Echo360 hosting platform or cloud storage (access is currently limited to those staff lecturing in University Hall or the Guthrie lecture theatre).
Videos recorded using Echo360 PCAP can however be uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo and other compatible video streaming websites.
To request installation or update of Echo360 PCAP you’ll need to provide the computer name of your PC or Mac.
Please follow the instructions on Staff Connect to find your computer’s name (e.g. IML1234567890).

If you have trouble locating your computer’s name please call the helpdesk on x2222 for assistance.
Once you’ve located your computer’s name please log a Service Connect request to arrange installation or update of Echo360 PCAP.
- Echo360 PCAP can only be installed on UTS owned computers due to licence restrictions.
- Once installed the software can be found in the Echo360 folder of your Start menu (Windows).
